On a 2011 Equinox is one more invisible than the other when not in use?

Between the MX and EZ4 base plates for the 2011 Chevy Equinox, both have removable draw-bar arms that you can take out when not in use so either one would be virtually invisible with the arms out. I recommend going with the EZ4 base plates, # RM-523160-4, because they are compatible with more tow bars.

Before going any further you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual to make sure your Equinox can be flat towed and if there are any special requirements or procedures you need to follow.

In addition to the base plates you will also need a tow bar. A popular option is the Falcon 2 # RM-520. You will also need to add safety cables, # RM-643. The cables are coiled to prevent them from dragging the ground.

Next you will need a lighting solution. I recommend the Hopkins kit # HM56108. This is a great option that you will just install one time and not have to mess with again. My research shows that you will likely have to pull a fuse every time you flat tow the vehicle. To make this easier a fuse bypass is recommended, # RM76511. Check the owners manual to confirm.

And finally, most states require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400. Please note that supplemental braking systems will only fit models without adjustable pedals. A stop light switch kit # RM-751439 and 12 volt outlet kit, # RM-9332, are also recommended.

I have also included some instruction links and 2 helpful links on flat towing for you.
