Does the Spare Tire on a 2000 Ford Explorer have to Be Removed to Install Draw-Tite Hitch 75096
Question:
To install this hitch do I need to remove the spare tire or does it fit while leaving the spare tire on where it is factory mounted?

Expert Reply:
You will not have to remove the spare tire if you install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75096. Removing it to install the hitch will make the installation easier but then you can put the spare tire back into place afterwards. If you have the 16 inch spare tire it will not be an issue but if you have a larger spare tire you will most likely have to stow the spare in another location.
If you plan on doing some towing I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring use # 118345.
