Which Blue Ox Weight Distribution System for Trailer with Dry 710 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I’m driving around 450 miles to purchase a travel trailer . The tounge weight is listed at 710 pounds. Dry weight 5300 pounds. I’m sure I’ll be adding propane and a cooler in bed of the truck. Would you recommend this setup

Expert Reply:

The Blue Ox WD system part # BXW1500 is most likely going to have too high of a tongue weight range for the weight of your trailer that you mentioned. The part # BLU75FR would most likely have a better tongue weight range at 800-1,200 lbs. If you use a system that is rated too high you most likely will end up with a really harsh ride quality.
