How to Fight Pop Up Camper Sway From Crosswinds and Passing Semis

Question:

Hello, I have a 2016 ram 1500 rebel package. It’s got the 5.7 hemi and 3.92 gears, also factory air suspension. I tow a 2005 fleetwood allegiance pop up camper. I’m looking for something to reduce sway. Currently to get the camper level I have a 5 1/4 drop hitch on it with a 2” ball. It sways over 65mph and real bad when a semi passed me. What products do you recommend. The pop up does have a swivel Jack on the “driver” side of frame.

To help keep everything level and controlled from crosswinds and passing semis I recommend using the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU36FR but then swapping out the 7-hole shank with the 11-hole shank # BLU86FR to make sure you get that 5-1/4" drop you're needing.

I really like the TrackPro because it gives you multiple adjustment points for the mounting brackets. The only thing you'll need to watch out for is that swivel jack. The brackets will mount 20" to 25" back on the trailer frame from the hitch ball so this will give you a good idea of how this will interact with that jack.
