Brake Controller for 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500
Question:
I have a 2008 1500 2wd LT2 Avalanche with the factory 7 pin trailer connector and I want to install a brake controller. Ive no clue what Type or Mfg would best fit my vehicle and my usage. Most common towing would consist of 8X20 enclosed motorcycle trailer w/max of 4 touring bikes. GVW with motorcycles would not exceed 5,000lbs.

Since you already have your 7-pole trailer connector on the back of your 2008 Chevy Avalanche, you are halfway there. I would suggest the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885 which is a wonderful brake controller. This brake controller will stop the trailer in proportion to the stopping on your Avalanche for safer more predictable braking, which is easier on your brakes than a time-delayed brake controller especially if you will be towing frequently.
On your Avalanche, no plug is present under the dash, but the wires are already run. You only need to connect the brake control wires together with those already present under the dash which is so simple a caveman could do it. We also have a video of the Prodigy installed on a 2008 Chevy Silverado.
I've linked to an FAQ article that explains the installation for you.
