Can 2 Sets of Foam Block Kayak Carriers Be Used for 2 Kayaks on a Ford Ranger with Camper Shell

Question:

I have two small kayaks, one is a 10 foot and the other is a 12 foot. I want to transport them on my Ford Ranger with a canopy and a naked roof, but am not sure what is the best way to do so. I will likely only carry the kayaks this one time, and therefore I do not want to invest in a roof rack or other expensive form. Are two sets of foam blocks a bad idea?

Two sets of the foam blocks, # RL100K10, would be a great idea. It fits just what you want: an inexpensive way to transport kayaks infrequently. Plus you can put the blocks on just about anything including the camper shell on your truck. But your camper shell will need to either have windows through which to route the straps to secure the kayak or you will need to secure the straps to an alternate place on the truck.

Make sure that the combined weight of the kayaks does not exceed the weight carrying capacity of the camper shell.
