7-Way/4-Way, Factory Installed Connector Not Providing Power to Left Side Tail/Turn on RV
Question:
My 2007 Ford F250 came with factory 7 pin and 4 pin electrical connectors but the left side tail light and left blinker will not work on my RV when connected. The 4 pin also does not work on the left side. Do i just need to replace the connector from the vehicle wiring harness down? What part do i need to do this?

The first thing I would do is to check the actual pins of the connector using a circuit tester, such as part # PTW2993 and check each of the pins for voltage - if you are still not receiving voltage, then check any fuses or relays that are related to the tow package wiring in the power distribution box. There should be a 20-amp fuse in fuse location #9 and a 1/2 ISO relay in relay location # 202 for the left turn/stop lamp. This information will be found in your owner's manual or inside the power distribution box lid as well.
If you are receiving voltage, then your issue lies in your RV. Since you already know what is not working, you can simply test those two functions to see which wires are affected and trace them through looking for a short.
Next, check your grounding connections at both the light and the main trailer connector to make sure they are connected on a clean, bare metal surface. Even small amounts of corrosion can impede the ground.
Finally, check the vehicle side connectors to verify they are clean and free of corrosion. I have attached a FAQ troubleshooting article.
If, at the end of the day, the fuse and relay are not your problem, and you still have your original issue, replacing the factory 7-way/4-way connector with the Tow Ready Replacement Trailer Connector # 74682 is a solid choice.
