Recommended Flat Towing Equipment For A 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn
Question:
Hello I have a 2013 dodge ram 1500 longhorn. I need the front tow kit for it to tow with my RV. Could you send me some part numbers. I know there is the Ox brand but liked the others better. I look forward to your response

Blue Ox is a good brand but I very much prefer Roadmaster branded equipment over all the rest. Roadmaster is known for their quality and their customer service and technical support is top tier. To flat tow (dinghy tow) your 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. I have the follow recommendations for you:
Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - RV Mount - 8K # RM-676. This to bar features non-binding latches and a large hookup radius to make connecting/disconnecting your Ram on any terrain easy peasy. It comes with a 6-way to 7-way adapter cable and a 6-way socket for your Ram to transfer your RV's tail light signals. It also features integrated LED lights that illuminate with your RV tail lights to make it easy to hookup or disconnect in the dark. It also comes with safety cables included so you won't need to purchase those separately either.
Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-52289-5. These direct-connect base plates make connecting/disconnecting from your tow bar a breeze. The removable arms provide a clean look when not in use.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152. This diode kit will allow you to use your Ram's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. The Nighthawk tow bar already comes with a 6-way socket and adapter cable so all you'll need is the diodes and wiring included in this kit.
Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking using the remote from your RV. The included charge line kit will keep your Ram's battery charged while you tow.
Safety Cables: The Nighthawk tow bar already comes with safety cables so you won't need to purchase any separately.
You may also require a high/low adapter to keep your tow bar level between the motorhome and your Ram. This does require some measuring on your part so I've attached our help guide article to walk you through determining the correct rise/drop needed.
