Will I Have Any Issues With The Titan Chain Cable, Part # TC2029, On My 2021 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Since these chains are designed for 15 through 18 inch wheels the rungs cover a smaller tire really well and leave a big gap - 24 inches of tire - on the bigger tires. Is this big gap going to present traction problems? Shouldn’t there be a comparable product for the larger tire sizes to eliminate or reduce this big gap? I suspect the answer is in economies of scale and price but the Highlander has restricted wheel well clearance so cables make a little more sense than chains to me.

After taking a look at your question, the only gap I can see that is 24" would be the front and back of the tire. Will there be a gap on the tread due to the tire increasing in size? Yes, there will be. However, it is not a big enough gap to cause a problem with the effectiveness of the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Steel Rollers - 1 Pair, part # TC2029. With regard to the 24" gap across the wheel face and the rear of the tire, there is a tensioner on both sides of the snow chain. You tighten the snow chain in the rear and on the front, so you should not have any issues with the 24" gap. You can also add the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Passenger Vehicles - 1 Pair, part # TCMA1, in order to add more tension to these snow tire chains.
You are correct in wanting to use a snow chain that can work with the tight clearances of your 2021 Toyota Highlander wheel well. The Class S designation insures that these snow chains will fit vehicles with restricted wheel clearance.
