Recommendation For Best Flat Tow Set-Up For 2021 Chevrolet Equinox

Question:

I have a 2021 Chevy Equinox and need parts to tow behind our motorhome. I have a Roadmaster nighthawk tow bar already. What is the BEST set-up?

There are 5 primary items needed to flat tow a vehicle behind a motorhome, the base plate kit, tow bar, Safety Cables, a wiring solution for your indicator lights and supplemental braking.

I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM-523193-5. This fits all trim levels of the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox and matches your Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar, # RM-676 that already has the needed safety cables.

For the needed wiring solution on your Chevy Equinox, I suggest the # RM-152. This connects your RV's tail, brake and turn signal lights to your towed car's lighting system.

For the needed supplemental braking, I suggest the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, # SM99251 for electric brakes. Or, if your motorhome has air brakes, then select Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes, # SM99243.

In addition, I suggest the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-156-25. And you may or may not need a high/low adapter depending on if your tow set-up is within 3" of level. I have attached a help article that helps you figure out if a high-low adapter is needed. I have also linked our page of high-low adapters so that you can choose the correct one if you determine one is needed.

Please note the product review and installation videos below for each of the items listed above. This will provide a complete system for safely towing your 2021 Chevrolet Equinox.
