For a first time flat tow all the information and requirements can seem overwhelming but lets go step by step and see how simple it and safe it actually is.

First you need a base plate. This offers a secure mating/connection point to your vehicle. I recommend going with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BLU93FR.

Next you need an actual tow bar, I recommend the Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,000 lbs # BX7420. It does come with safety cables and that is ok, BUT make sure the cables are at least 4 inches LONGER than the break away cable that comes with the supplemental braking system. You want the cable to pull out and engage the brakes in case there is a failure in the tow system.

For the braking system I recommend the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor - Proportional # DM86VR

You'll need a Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 to link your lights and signals togethers. You will also need a battery disconnect as well so you do not drain your battery while towing. I recommend the Deka Lead Quick-Disconnect Battery Terminal - Universal Polarity # DW05312.

You will also need a high/low adapter to keep everything in line. You will need to park on level ground and measure from the ground up to the center of your hitch receiver and then measure from the ground to the center of the base plate on your truck. Both of these need to be within 3 inches of each other. Depending on what your measure you will need something like the Curt High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 4" Rise/Drop - 8" Long # C59KR.
