Which Tekonsha Brake Controller Wiring Harness for 2008 Suburban 1500

Question:

Would the 3026-P wiring harness be the best fit for this vehicle? I noted a few questions for the GMC Acadia in the same year range, but wanted to be sure that was the correct fit for this truck as well.

Chevrolet stopped installing the plug-in brake controller port on their full-size SUVs after the 2006 model year. There should instead be a bundle of wires tucked up underneath the dash and held together with a tag. This tag lists the functions of each wire. You will just need to splice the brake controller wires to the tow package wires by function. Please refer to the provided photo.

If you need a longer pigtail harness for a Tekonsha controller you can use part # 7894. This harness is approximately 34-inches long.

On the controller the white wire is ground, black is 12-volt power, blue is output for the trailer brakes, and red is the input signal from the brake switch. The tow package wiring on the truck should have a white wire for ground, a red/black wire for 12 volt power, a light blue and white wire for input from the brake switch, and a dark blue wire for output to the trailer brakes. (There may be an orange wire but it will not be used for brake controller installation.)

For a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P2, part # 90885, one of our most popular controllers. This particular unit is reliable and is easy to set up and to use. I have linked a video showing a typical installation.
