The only hitch our vendors offer for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL450 is the Curt # C13102, which has the 3500 lb weight capacity you mentioned. The # C13190 hitch you'd looked at isn't a fit for your vehicle, it's for a later model Mercedes GL or GLS.
To install a brake controller, you'll need to start with a 4 pole trailer connector which would be provided by # C59236. For a brake controller, I really like a remote mount controller such as the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty, part # RED24FR. The main unit of the controller would install under the dash, out of sight. The controller would be adjusted via the control knob that can be mounted anywhere within easy reach of the driver.
Unlike other brake controllers, you won't have an unsightly box hanging from the lower edge of your dash to bang your knee against. You'll also need the # RED69FR wiring pigtail. If you have an unused switch knockout on the dash or console, it's a perfect mounting spot for the control knob. Otherwise, you can use a mounting bezel like # 331-TPSI-001 for a clean, professional looking installation. You'll also need our brake controller install kit, part # ETBC7.
