You can install a hitch receiver without a wiring kit. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # 13077, is compatible with your 2017 BMW X6. The installation will require a temporary removal of bumper/fascia. The impact structure will be removed permanently, with the hitch receiver replacing the impact structure. The fascia will have to be trimmed for this installation.
If you need a wiring kit, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit, part # 119250KIT. This wiring harness will provide your BMW X6 with a custom fit. There is no cutting or splicing of wires required with the installation of this wiring harness, sensors will clamp onto the wires of your factory tail light wiring. It comes with a circuit tester to help with the installation.
I have included a product description link and video installation links below.
