In order to tow with your 2022 BMW X5, you will need a hitch receiver, a 4-way connector and wiring harness, and a 7-way connector, and a ball mount. Once you have this in place, you will be able to tow utility trailers, pop-up trailers, and travel trailers, with no problem.
I recommend the Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2", part # SH25VR, It has a tongue weight of 600 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 8,000 lbs. This hitch receiver comes with trailer wiring that will attach a 7-way connector. If you want to tow a utility trailer you will need the ability to tow an utility trailer, you will need a 4-way connector. This towing kit comes with a 7-way to 4-way adapter for that purpose. It comes with a 2" ball mount. I definitely recommend including Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz., part # 11755, to help with rust and corrosion.
