Comparison of the Curt Hitch and etrailer Hitch for a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado
Question:
I have a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado and have looked at the Curt and etrailer hitches. Is there a major difference? Do you have a preference?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13203 and the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98909 have more similarities than they do differences. I will start by telling you what both hitches will provide and then point out the differences. Both the Curt and etrailer hitch are going to be made in the USA, have a bolt-on, no-drill installation and provide you with a 2" receiver opening which is going to be the most common size used for hitch mounted accessories such as bike racks, cargo carriers and ball mounts.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13203 is going to have a round tube design and black gloss finish. It will also have a 900 lb. Tongue weight capacity and 6,000 lb. towing capacity.
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98909 is going to have a square tube design with a matte black finish. It will have a 800 lb. Tongue weight capacity and 8,000 lb. towing capacity.
You will want to follow the instruction of your owners manual for what your towing capacities are but they look to range from 3,500 lbs. to 7,000 lbs. depending on your model. Given those numbers either hitch is going to serve you well but the etrailer hitch is the option that covers the full towing capacity.
I also prefer the etrailer hitch because of the matte black finish. The matte black finish provides a better look with your vehicle when installed versus the gloss finish of the Curt.
To complete a tow package you can use the 7-Pole and 4-Pole Trailer Connector # HM40975-11998 for wiring and the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 for a ball mount kit.
