Will the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR Fit on My 2018 Lexus RX350?

Question:

I have 2 new Aventon Aventure bikes these are step through/4fat tire/metal fenders. Will this rack work with these bikes? They will be mounted on a 2018 Lexus RX350 with a 2inch receiver. If this rack will not work, would you please recommend a rack that will work. The bikes weight 72 pounds each with the battery. I would remove the battery when transporting battery weighs approximately 10 pounds Thanking you in advance

Yes, the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR will be able to work with your Aventon Adventure fat-bike e-bikes, but you will also need to order the Yakima Fat Tire Straps # Y23FR in order to accommodate your 4-inch wide tires. Also, we always recommend disconnecting the battery from e-bikes before all transportation. This is because removing the battery will avoid any unnecessary risk of damage due to bumps/added torque. Since the OnRamp has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 66 pounds, you will fall under that weight capacity with the batteries removed. If you want to add theft-deterrence for the safety of your OnRamp, I recommend the Yakima HitchLock for Yakima Hitch Mounted Bike Racks # Y07235.

As far as attaching your Aventon Adventure bikes to the rack, I recommend attaching the mounting clamps/straps to the straight downtube receiver (the part of the bike where the seat retracts into). This is because the the large downtube of the frame might be too large to fit on the clamps. However, we have had neighbors attach bikes like this before and it will be secure with no issues.

Apart from fitting the bikes, one of the things you need to consider is whether you have enough bumper clearance on your 2018 Lexus RX350 with a 2-inch receiver. The OnRamp measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the shank's pinhole to the closest part of the rack when folded. In order to make sure you have enough clearance, I recommend measuring from the center of your hitch's pinhole to the outside face of your front bumper. If that length is less than 7-1/2 inches, the OnRamp will fit perfectly.
