Recommended Heavy Duty 5th Wheel Hitch For A 2022 Silverado 2500 Short Bed Without the Prep Package

I'm looking to tow a 5th wheel trailer with my new 2022 Silverado 2500. It does not have the puck/prep package and there are currently no rails in the bed. Looking for the heaviest duty option I can get. What do you guys have for me?

If you are looking for a heavy duty option for your new 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500 without the towing prep package and the short bed, you will want the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R24 Slider # C16566. This is rated up to 24,000 pounds towing and 6,250 pounds of vertical load. The sliding base allows for 12" of front to back movement which will let you make those tight turns without worrying about your camper making contact with the cab of your new truck. To get this installed in the bed, you will also need some rails.

For this, the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16429-204 will be another great option. The frame brackets will require no drilling and will bolt on pretty quickly and easily. You will need to drill into the bed to get the actual rails attached to said brackets, but even that isn't overly difficult. I included an install video we have on a 2020 Silverado for you to check out as well. If you were going to be doing this install yourself, it will definitely help
