Parts Needed To Flat Tow a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
Do I need to buy the base plate separately? I have a 2020 jeep wrangler unlimited.

Yes, the base plate for your 2020 Jeep Wrangler is separate from the Tow Bars. I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5 for your Wrangler unless you have an aftermarket bumper with tabs that are capable of being flat towed. If you have an aftermarket bumper please let me know which one so
I can verify the correct tabs for the tow bars. The Roadmaster hides the mounting tabs for the base plate better than the others in my opinion.
I recommend using the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522 for towing your Jeep. These tow bars do not bind up like others which makes unhooking your Jeep easier even on a hill. The channels on the bars protect your wiring and safety cables from getting caught on road debris or dragging on the ground. These bars will connect directly to the base plate tabs making hooking up faster. The RoadMaster Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit # RM-9243-1 will include the wiring necessary to integrate your Jeep tail lights to work off the towed vehicles lights. So you will not have to worry about additional lights.
Due to the weight of your Jeep most states will require you to have a supplemental braking system. The Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR is my preferred braking system. The main unit mounts under the hood of the Jeep and connects to your braking system. This kit can be activated by simply flipping a switch inside your Jeep when you are putting the transfer case into neutral. You won't have to fumble with large portable brake system or loose room inside to a unit that can't handle being exposed to dirt. A Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 will maintain your battery while being towed and prevent the braking system from draining the battery to dead.
