Recommended Trailer Ball Mount for 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Question:
I have a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. I was wondering if the C45036 ball mount is fine for my car.

The correct ball mount for your vehicle will depend on the height of the hitch on your Outlander. When we installed a hitch like # C13398 on your vehicle, we found that the inside top of the receiver tube was about 11 inches above the ground. Since the average trailer coupler height is between 16-18 inches, you'll want a ball mount that provides about 6 inches of rise. Since the # C45036 you'd looked at provides a 2 inch drop, it wouldn't be a good choice.
To figure out the exact rise you'll need, you can measure from the bottom of your level trailer coupler to the ground, subtract that from the hitch height to find the exact rise you need. If you don't have a trailer yet, or if it's not readily available, going with a 6 inch rise like # C45100 would put you pretty darn close to where you need to be, height-wise. You'll also need a # PC3 hitch pin. For a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
If you don't already have a trailer wiring harness, I'd recommend # C59496.
I'll link to a help article that explains how to determine the exact rise you'll need.

I was looking at this product for the harness: https://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-Vehicle-Wiring/Mitsubishi/Outlander/2020/C77KR.html?VehicleID=20205002383 Is it compatible with my car? Also what’s the difference between this and the C59496 you recommended?
