Is There a Brake Controller Wiring Adapter for a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas

Question:

I have a 2022 VW Atlas SEL with tow package. I am am installing a Prodigy P2 brake controller. I want to buy the adapter harness that connects the unit with factory wiring under the dash. I have located the plug under my dash. Same place most online videos show with similar VW Atlas vehicles dated back to 2018-2020. See plug and harness found in the 4 pictures attached. I have also found the OEM housing connector PN that fits this plug…OEM# 1J0-972-782. However seems like the local VW parts dealers have no clue to order or look anything up, either then normal parts like batteries, tires, and such. Very disappointed to say the least… Anyway, I see on your site you have some harnesses for other units such as “Curt” products…the plug on the one end that attaches to the vehicle should fit my vehicle judging by the looks of them. Can you sell me just the pigtail with the Atlas vehicle plug side attached? Look forward to your follow up and help…

Thank you so much for the photos and all of the info! Currently none of our manufacturers have an adapter that they have tested and approved to work with that connector you found on your 2022 Volkswagen Atlas, so you'll have to cut off that connector on your vehicle and use the included pigtail to spliced in the Prodigy P2 # 90885 in your vehicle.

You will need to connect the following wires from the pigtail to the corresponding functions on your Atlas:

Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)

Good evening Jon, between the rain and traffic home. I just got a chance to further investigate and report back to you. Pin #1 is a Brown heavy gauge wire and indicates Ground (-) when checked with test light. Pin #2 is a Red/White stripe heavy gauge wire and indicates Power (12V) with ignition on, when checked with light and volt meter. Pin #3 is a light gauge wire that is Red/Black strip, which I believe is going to be Brake Lamp signal. Pin #4 is a heavy gauge wire that is Purple/blue stripe, which I also believe is Trailer brake output. But like you said, I can move the pins around if needed, I have the proper tools to remove them. Let me know if this info is sufficient enough and I will also post on the link provided. If you can make arrangements for me, I would like to purchase the harness, mentioned and shown...I believe that will work for my purpose. Look forward to your follow up... Konrad J Walter

@KonradW it is difficult to tell from your pictures, but the pictures of your VW connectors do not look like the same style (flat blade connectors) as the Tekonsha connector. Do you already have the Tekonsha connector? As you can see from the Tekonsha picture, there are four connectors, (1.) 12 volt power to brake controller, (2.) Power to 7-way connector on the back of the vehicle, (3.) brake pedal switch, and (4.) ground. If you can identify the wires on your VW that match these functions you could always connect these directly.
