Does 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 w/ Factory Brake Controller Need Computer Flashed to Add Prodigy P3
Question:
Hello! I have the gm factory brake controller but it will not work correctly with my titan brakerite trailer brakes. I want to bypass the factory controller with Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller and Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter that plugs in under the dash. My question is, to bypass the factory controller would running the blue trailer power wire straight from back of truck plug to the prodigy p3 work or would I still need to have the dealer disable the factory controller?

That is a good question but you will still need to take your 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500 to the dealer to have the computer flashed in order to add the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195.
The correct plug in adapter that will work for your Chevy is the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3064-P.
I can absolutely understand not wanting to do this, but by adding the P3 # 90195 to your '20 Silverado you'll be able to utilize your Brakerite set up, and it is also just a higher-quality brake controller overall than the factory controller so I'm certain that you'll be happy you went this route.
