Height of Base Plate Mounting on 2020 Escape Hybrid
Question:
Hello: Can you tell me what the height is for the front tow bar mount on the new escape hybrid? Our Class As trailer hitch is high off the ground, and were having trouble finding towable cars that mount high enough to not require a significant hitch. We tried a Ford Focus but had to have a 8inch hitch to keep the tow bars within manufacturer specification almost level but it would drag on the ground over bumps and dips. Thanks.

We can help with this. While we do not have a 2020 Ford Escape available for measuring the height of an installed Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM39FR, I have attached an image of a 2020 Ford Escape that has had this item installed so as to provide a visual reference for you to know where you should measure.
I think the needed solution to your issue is that you need to use a high-low adapter on your motorhome. When your towed vehicle is connected, the tow bar should be within 3", up or down, of being level to the ground. If it is not within this acceptable range “the safe zone,” you will need to use a high/low hitch adapter to compensate.
I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.

Tow Bar - Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar, # RM-522.

Wiring Kit - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, # RM-15267 and the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit, # RM-88400.
Supplemental Braking System - Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, # SM99251.
OR
For a motorhome with air brakes - Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes, # SM99243.
