Making Sure A Trailer Break Away System Is Wired Properly
Question:
I recently bought a 2005 Fleetwood Victory pop-up tent trailer. It came with a 15 amp circuit breaker located right next to the battery. I am double checking if connections are correct to it and the battery: 1 The black wire from the trailer is connected to the bat post of the circuit breaker. 2 There is a black jumper wire going from the bat post of the circuit break to the positive terminal of the battery. 3 One of the connections from the breakaway switch is connected to the positive terminal of the battery the other wire from the breakaway switch is connected to the blue wire coming from the trailer. 4 There is nothing connected to the aux post of the circuit breaker. Does this sound right? Thank you.

From what you described, your break away system is indeed wired properly. I did also include a wiring diagram and a review video of the Hopkins Engager Push-To-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 20099 for you to check out as well.
With that being said, unless there was some other accessory tied into the other side of the circuit breaker, I'm not sure what it is doing there. For it to work, something does need to be connected on both ends so it will complete a circuit and then "blow", for the lack of a better term, when too much power tries to run through it. Odds are they had an electric jack, a light source, or some other accessory run off the other end that was removed at some point.
