Panel Trimming Required For The Curt Receiver # C13394 Installation on a 2017 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I’ve been reading the Q and A ‘s for hidden hitch for 2017 Toyota HL Limited the 13200 which is exposed tube. Mention is made that facia needs to be trimmed for the 13394. I know that the undercarriage panels need to be trimmed to attached the 6 bolts. When you say facia trim do you mean the plastic panels below the bumper rail as well? Does there need to be material removal for hidden bar to fit under bumper trim ?

For the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver to be mounted to your 2017 Toyota Highlander Limited there are 2 panels that will need to be trimmed. The underbody panel on the non-exhaust side needs to be trimmed to accept the receiver so that it can bolt to the frame. The rear fascia needs trimmed in multiple places as the receiver cross tube will fit behind it and be hidden from view. I have included a picture of the panels that will be trimmed from the installation instruction for this receiver.

We also have an installation video that I have linked below showing the entire installation process along with the panels being trimmed for the receiver to be installed.

I do recommend installing the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118449 when you install the receiver. It will be easier to access holes in the floor if you choose to route the 4-way outside the vehicle permanently rather than having to run the wiring under the lift gate every time you need to connect to a trailer or use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with your bike rack or cargo carrier. The Mounting Brackets # 18140 and # 18144 will allow you to attach the 4-way to your receiver without having to drill holes in the receiver or rear fascia panel.
