MPT is a male connection with NPT threads (national pipe threads). They basically just drop the "National" portion of the name on these parts and replace them with the male or female designation. The MB Sturgis Propane Hose Assembly - 1/2" Female Flare Swivel x 3/8" MPT - 4' # 100383-48-MBS you were looking at has a male NPT fitting and would require a female NPT (FPT) fitting to connect to. You will want to make sure you don't mix up flare fittings with NPT fittings though as they do look quite similar. I've attached our help guide article on propane fittings to offer you some additional info.

If you need help finding the correct fitting for an appliance then just let me know the connection type on the appliance and the LP source and the length of hose needed and I can help you find the correct hose.
