Valterra Waste Valve Part # T1001PBC Valve Opening Dimension

As I read it, this valve only opens 7/8inch even though its a 1 1/2inch diameter. Is this correct? T1001PBC.

The valve opening of the Valterra Waste Valve for RV Gray Water Tank - 1-1/2" Diameter # T1001PBC is 1-1/2" in diameter.
