Brake Controller Recommendation for a 7 x 14 Toy Hauler
Question:
Hi, I am new to the trailor world, so my question is should I use a computer or manual brake controller? My trailer is a 14 x 7 dual axel toy hauler trailer white ones with no window, I have a 80 and a 700 Yamaha raptor ATV , along with 500 pounds of cargoamd unless I go camping thats all I will haul. One friend says manual and the other says computer. What do you Recomend for me and why? Thank you for your time

I believe by manual or computer you are referring to a time-delay or proportional brake controller. Of the two types of brake controllers, I recommend using a proportional brake controller because they use an internal accelerometer to apply the same braking power to the trailer that is being applied in the tow vehicle. This reduces the wear and tear on both the vehicle and the trailer.
A time delay brake controller will apply a set amount of power to the trailer. There will be a slight delay from the time you step on the brake pedal to when the power is applied to the trailer brakes with a time-delay brake controller.
We carry many brake controllers that you can use and I have attached a link to all of our brake controllers for you to check out. The brake controller that I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller (proportional) # 90195. I have attached a review video of this brake controller for you to check out.
I have also attached a few FAQ articles on brake controllers for you to check out. Since you are new to towing, I recommend looking at these articles because they are full of useful information regarding brake controllers.
