How To Install Tekonsha Trailer Brake Controller On 2021 Honda Passport with Factory Pigtail

Hello. I have a 2021 Honda Passport with the factory trailer package and Im looking at the Primus IQ trailer brake controller. Honda provided a pigtail connection with a battery feed wire blue, a vehicle ground wire black, a brake switch wire sky blue, and trailer brake output wire brown/white. The Primus IQ pigtail connection has a battery + wire black, a ground - wire white, a cold side of stoplight switchinch wire red, and a trailer brake output wire blue. Im not able to find a ready-made harness but it seems I could create one by connecting the appropriate wires: Battery - Honda blue to Primus black Ground - Honda black to Primus white Brake Switch - Honda sky blue to Primus red Brake output - Honda brown/white to Primus blue Am I looking at this correctly? Thanks.

There isn't a direct plug-in-play brake controller wiring harness for a 2021 Honda Passport but you can use the factory brake controller pigtail to install a controller like the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller part # TK90160. It sounds like the wire colors of the factory pigtail aren't matching up with the Tekonsha pigtail therefore you'll have to match by function not color.

Factory Pigtail - Tekonsha Pigtail

Blue to Black
Black to White
Sky Blue to Red
Brown/White to Blue
