Troubleshooting No Power to Brake Controller 12 Volt Power Wire On a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche
Question:
I followed your description/video of the 2012 Silverado - however - I dont seem to have power on those wires. I should have 12 v between the ground and BATT wires - and I dont. this may explain why I dont get the green light on my brake controller - are there any other things that need to be connected that are different any thoughts on tracking down the issue?

There is one additional step that is required on your 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche that was not covered in the video with the 2012 Chevrolet Silverado. There is a red wire located just outside the engine compartment fuse box that needs to be attached to one of the front lugs inside the fuse box. You will need the M8 Nut # 185917 to complete this step. I have linked a video below for an installation we did on a similar Avalanche so you can see the additional step towards the end of the video.
If you still have issues after connecting this wire, you may be either missing the brake controller fuse or it is damaged on your Avalanche. The fuse for the trailer brake controller circuit is located in the engine compartment fuse panel number 6 terminal.
