Is It Possible For Reese Sway-Control Bracket To Bend When Making Sharp Turns?
Question:
I am using this part with the associated sway bar. After many trips, I notice this bracket is bent upward 5-10 degrees. I have always removed the sway bar prior to backing up. Will sharp turns also cause this? What other causes would result in this part bending?

If you make a very sharp nearly jack-knifed turn with friction sway control such as the Reese # 83660 still hooked up it is possible that the system was over extended or compressed too much causing the mounting bracket # RP26003 to be bent.
Ideally you want the trailer to be as straight as possible while using friction sway control as due to its design it can only extend or be compressed so much.
I would check out your sway-bar to make sure that it has no damage, and then go ahead and replace the # RP26003 so that you do not have a potentially compromised bracket.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
