Specs:
The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs with very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Rambler radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster Rambler ST225/75R15 Radio Trailer Tire in a load range E. Now this is a radial ply tire, so it's great for highway use. They do use the double steel belts and the double polyester cords, which combine for a nice long life. And they do also use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. This is designed to fit on 15 inch diameter wheels.
The tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, you'll see it's ST for special trailer, 225/75R15. The R lets you know that it is a radial design tire. Load range on this is load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. So the maximum load capacity is 2,860 pounds at 80 PSI. And now all the new trailer tires do have speed ratings on them and they stamp it on the sidewall by a letter designation.
And where that's at is right after the size. You'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter M stamped there. That means it has an 81 mile per hour speed rating. Now, this tire does use a standard tread. You spin it this way and this standard tread has the solid continuous ribs and they have very few sipes or cuts in the rubber.
The sipes are usually what help with bad weather by breaking up any water that's underneath the tire. These tires, since they're designed for mainly use on trailers, they don't really require that level of traction that would be needed like, on a vehicle that has braking or steering. The tire is a ST tire, which is special trailer tire, has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. It is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles.
And this tire does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specification and it will exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. But that's gonna do it for the review on this Taskmaster Rambler ST225-75R15 radial trailer tire, and a load range E.
