Which Bike Rack Is Best For Electric Step-Thru Bikes? Saris Freedom, Swagman Current, Swagman E-Spec

Hi! I have a Magnum e bike step thru and a Townie E bike, also a step through. They are about 50 lbs per. I am looking at the Saris SA4412b and the swagman current and the Swagman e-spec but Im not sure which one will work best for us. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

All of the bike racks you were looking at happen to be great options, but I would go with the Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # SA4412B for your step through ebikes (Electra Townie and Magnum). This carrier is very lightweight at only 22.5 lbs, whereas the Swagman Current # S64678 weighs 49 lbs and the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR weighs 60 lbs.

Also, the Saris uses adjustable cradles that can be used at various heights, including very low down for your step through frames. The Swagman carriers will not be able to reach that low and they would require an adapter bar like # SR0500 for each bike. This adapter bar could still possibly be needed to secure the Magnum bike to the Saris since the Magnum has a very low frame, but the adapter bar would certainly not be needed to secure the Townie to the Saris as you can see in the attached photo. I also attached a demonstration video for the Saris to give you more insight.

Yes the Swagman Current part #S64678 can be used with step thru frame e-bikes. I attached a picture we go from a customer that shows it carrying an e-bike with a step thru frame and the hook used is the long hook.
