Could Curt Triflex Cause Error Message on Dash of 2019 Ram 1500
Question:
Hello, Im hoping you can help me. I had my C24VV installed in my previous Ram 1500 and moved it to a recently purchased 2019 Ram 1500. However, the PCM failed and they had to replace it. When they did, there is now a red idiot light on the dash and a message that reads service trailer brake. Ive been told by 2 technicians that the PCM needs to communicate with the C24VV, and they think the brake doesnt work. But I think theyre wrong. As i understand aftermarket brakes, stepping on the brake just activates the brake but there is no two way communication correct? And since the Ram didnt have an OEM brake in the first place, my thought is to just have them disconnect the brake and reprogram to get rid of the idiot light and warning. By the way, the brake works fine as do all the signal lights. Any thoughts or suggestions?

The Curt Triflex part # C24VV has a reputation unfortunately as having internal issues. If when the controller is installed it causes a dash error light I'd speculate that the issue is from the controller and I would suggest going with a different controller that is more reliable with the Brake EVN # TK63VR.
