Replacement 5 On 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern Boat Trailer Hub for 1 Inch Spindle

Question:

I need hubs for my small boat trailer. Ive determined its 5 on 4 1/2 . There are no markings on the old bearing. The shaft is 1 inch. Is that all the information you need for the correct replacement?

Before proceeding, I'd take a moment to confirm the spindle diameter, because there are two different bearing sets that are very close in dimension, so you'll want to be absolutely sure of the measurement you get.

We recommend using a digital caliper like part # PTW80157. When dealing with specifying spindle/bearing ID dimensions a ruler or measuring tape typically won't provide enough accuracy which is why using a caliper is preferred.

If your spindle measures 1 inch, your hub uses the L44643 inner and outer bearing. The # 34822545BX hub you'd looked at would work for you, but for marine use I'd rather see you use a galvanized hub like # AKIHUB-545-2-G-1K for standard spindles or # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-1K for EZ Lube spindles.

If the spindle measures 1.063 inches, use # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K for a standard spindle or # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K for an EZ Lube spindle.

Each of the hubs mentioned above include the inner and outer bearings, races, the grease seal, the dust cap and the lug nuts.
