Powered Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 1985 Peugeot 505 Sedan
Question:
C56175 seems to be the recommendation for my 1985 Peugeot 505 Sedan. My experience with the electrical system of this vehicle and its frailties suggests to me that I would be better off with a system with a separate power lead so Im not putting double the load on the rear lighting circuits. Is there an equivalent to the C56175 that has a power lead?

The correct powered wiring harness for your 1985 Peugeot 505 sedan is the Curt Powered Wiring Harness, # C59496. This is basically the same wiring harness as the # C56175 that you referenced except it has the additional power lead for the vehicle battery.
The # C59496 is the harness that I would recommend for your vehicle. Using a powered converter box will keep the additional power draw off of your vehicles tail light circuits and will provide more power for trailer lights. This kit also comes with all of the necessary hardware to complete the installation.
Routing the power wire to the vehicle battery can often be a troublesome process for novice wiring installers. I have attached an FAQ article or routing the power wire for you to check out. It gives some tips that may make this process easier.
