Replacing 6-Leaf Springs on 12K Axles with 7-Leaf
Question:
I was wondering I can replace the 6 leaf spring on my 12k dexter axle trailer with a 7 leafs spring part # SP-270275? Both are 3 inch leaf spring. Also is it necessary to replace the U-bolt, if so what is part number for them? As per the measurement from the eye of leaf spring, both are same 30 1/2.

If the leaf springs are the same size and type then there will be no issues with replacement. The more leaves there is, the greater capacity the spring will have most likely. The 7-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Radius End part # SP-270275 is a slipper spring measuring 30.5" long x 3" wide and it has a 15,000 lb capacity for the pair.
In regards to u-bolts, they are typically a one type use only product so they will need to be replaced as well with the Replacement U-Bolt w/Locknuts part # 11-70.
