Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Hitch Compatibility With A 1988 Ford Super Duty 7.3L Cab-And-Chassis

Question:

Would this unit fit the above truck? I think 88 was the first year for the Super Duty designation and cannot recall if it is a 350 or 450 class. Planned trailer use is 18,000#, but once transported, it would rarely, if ever be moved. Thanks.

The Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 30,000lbs # RP30054 was designed to be welded or bolted to directly to the frame of cab-and-chassis style trucks so you will be able to attach it to your 1988 Ford Super Duty 7.3L Cab-and-Chassis. I spoke with a Reese technician and they stated you may have to weld a plate to the frame first and then weld or bolt the hitch to the plate.
