Replacement Surge Brake Actuator For Worn Out Tie Down Engineering Model 8000

Question:

Surge brakes TDE model 8000 . Slams loud when pulling forward. Is there a shock to replace. Or is it the spring that is worn out and cant be replaced? Thanks.

Based on the issue you are describing the Tie Down Engineering Surge Brake Coupler Model 8000 on your trailer has a shock that is worn out, but since this model actuator has been discontinued there are no replacement parts available any longer.

Your best bet will be replacing the actuator. I recommend either the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - 2-5/16" Ball - Bolt On - 8,000 lbs # T4079200 if you have drum brakes, or the # T4747220 if you have disc brakes.

Both have the same 8000lb weight capacity, and use a 2-5/16" hitch ball.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
