Troubleshooting Tekonsha Primus IQ Having PL Code When Installed On 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I have this harness and connected to the factory port under the drivers dash. Im getting a PL code on my Primus IQ. Im checking the each of the 4 wires with a test light. Black Power is good, The red wire has a faint light on the test light. If I press the brake pedal I get the expected brighter light. Ive confirmed that If Dont hook up the red to start, Ill get the NC on the display as expected. My question is do you think the faint light on the red wire without the brake being pressed is a bad brake location sensor? 2020 Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3. Thanks

Based on the issue you are describing with your Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 getting the PL code and your testing it does indeed sound like the stop light switch on your 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is bad.
You should not have any power on the red wire when the brake pedal is NOT pressed, and based on what you described it sounds like you do have some power.
I would take your truck to your local Chevy dealer and have them check out the stop light switch, as it is likely still covered under warranty with your truck being so new.
I included a video of the # TK90160 for you to take a look at.
