Can Truck Bed Camper Turnbuckles Be Used to Secure RIB Boat to Platform

Question:

I have a rib boat that I carry on the back of my boat - so the boat sits on my platform see pics. I would like to consider using these as tie-downs to secure the inflatable boat weighs 400lb to the platform while underway at sea. I currently use typical ratchet straps criss-cross on the stern, 1 on the bow, but I would like to find something that is easier for the family to hook up and unhook more quickly then the ratchet straps. Do you think these turnbuckles would work? The length of the stern straps are 33

Nice setup you've got there!

If the tie-down locations on the RIB boat and the platform on your boat can be situated so that they are aligned in a straight line, then there's no reason to believe a turnbuckle like # TLS9521 FastGun couldn't work for the purpose you have in mind. However # TLS9521 wouldn't have enough reach as it has a reach ranging from 14 and 21-1/2 inches.

For the 33 inch reach you mentioned, you'd want to use something like the # TLS9522 which has a reach between 25 and 43 inches.

When you consider that a truck bed camper can weigh between 2500-3500 lbs, the turnbuckle shouldn't have any problem keeping your small RIB in place.

I've linked to a video for the # TLS9522 turnbuckles.
