Solution For Carrying Two Kayaks On 2001 Toyota 4Runner With Thule Evo WingBar Crossbars

Question:

Hello, I have a 2001 4Runner with Thule Wingbars Evo 43 inch model #: 711100 and Im looking to purchase a Thule carrier setup that can handle two large kayaks. I have a Jackson Coosa Length: 112 Width: 32 Weight 70 lbs and a Jackson Cruise 10 Length: 103 Width: 32.5 Weight 59 lbs. Do you have any recommendations? Also, I currently carry one kayak with the Thule Dockgrip. Do you think I could continue to use this and a J-style rack at the same time? Any help/guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

You may have room to add a J-style kayak carrier to your Thule Evo WingBar Crossbars 43" # TH711100, but it will be a very tight fit considering your kayaks measure 32" wide each, which leaves you with only 11" on your crossbars for the second kayak. I think the best route would be to install two of the Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier w/Tie-Downs - J-Style # TH834 along with two of the Adapters # THXADAPT11 which allows compatibility with your crossbars. This J-style carrier doesn't take up much room which allows you to install two of them for your kayaks.

I attached a demonstration video for you to check out regarding this J-style carrier.
