Can a 2" Receiver Adapter be Added to a Curt Class I Hitch on a 2014 Corolla?
Question:
I want to use an Alpaca Rack to carry two Terra Trikes. They weigh just 39-45 lbs per Trike. Would the adapter with the 1 1/4 inch receiver be adequate?

As we do not carry any of the Alpaca racks, you will need to contact them about how much the rack you are looking at weighs. The Curt # C11265 that will definitely fit your 2014 Toyota Corolla can handle up to 200 pounds of tongue weight when used without an adapter. However, once an adapter like the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD is used, it will cut the hitches tongue weight in half, making it only able to carry 100 pounds.
With that being said, if the total weight of the trikes and rack is under 100 pounds, you will be good to go. I do strongly suggest using anti rattle devices on both the hitch and adapter connection and the adapter and rack connection if the rack does not include an anti rattle pin. The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061-125 (1 1/4" hitch side) and # RM-061 (2" rack side) are, in my opinion, the best options available.
