The Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S44FR will absolutely work with a car, given the the car in question has a 2" trailer hitch receiver.

This rack is actually a great option for a car due to it being able to accommodate up to two bikes weighing 45lbs or less.

Now the reason we mention this is rack is not recommended for bikes with carbon frames is due to the ratcheting hooks securing the bike by the frame. This could scratch or mar carbon frames or custom painted frames.

For bikes with carbon or custom painted frames a bike rack that secures the bikes by the wheels is a much better option, as there will be zero frame contact. I recommend the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y02443 which holds the bikes by the wheels, and carries two bikes weighing up to 60lbs each.
