How to Tell if Replacement Controller For Solera Smart Arm Awning is Needed

Question:

Solera smart arm awning. Our awning doesnt work. This TT has been taken out twice. The strip of lights came on once before we left home to take the TT out and outside controller had the green lights on, they remained on at the lock and at the light bulb. After that, we could not get the awning to retract or extend, or the lights on the awning to come on. It has power. The Smart Arm Controller did get wet from the AC water that had been blown towards the Smart Arm Controller and outlet. Such a poor design for this Forest River Toy Hauler. The Smart Arm controller did dry out but now it has no lights, no power and the awning wont work. I see we can order a new controller from you but we first need to be sure it is that part. How can we be sure its the controller part.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with your awning, and you're right about the design; it certainly seems flawed if the AC water gets blown right toward the controller. From what you described, it seems very likely the controller is bad, but what you can do to check is use a circuit tester like # PTW2979 to test that there is power going to the controller.

If there is, and the controller is not working, you will need the replacement:
