Does Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails on 2011 Toyota Sienna Have Speed Limit
Question:
I planned to get these CURT 18118 Universal 53-3/8-Inch Black Aluminum Roof Rack Cross Bars, 2-Pack for my 2011 Toyota Sienna and mount a Sport Rack Cargo Carrier 54 inch L x 36 inch W x 16 inch T on top. Its rated for 150 lbs max but what speed limit can I drive my vehicle when its loaded with this weight say 100-150 lbs? I also read a customer mounted two kayaks at a weight of 100 lbs and the bars bowed in the middle. Could I anticipate this problem with my cargo carrier also? Another customer said the parts rusted easily. Is this so? Thank you

As far as a speed limit, there is not a specific limit you need to drive your 2011 Toyota Sienna at when you have your cargo carrier installed on the Curt rack you mentioned:

This rack will hold up at normal driving speeds so you can drive normally with the rack and carrier on. In regards to the rails bowing, the large majority of people who use these haven't come across that issue, but I can't give a 100 percent guarantee it won't happen. That said, they do have a lifetime warranty, so if bowing does occur with the crossbars they can be replaced.
As for rusting, that was the only instance I have heard of, so I would not say they rust easily, but corrosion is always a possibility. Having said all that, when it comes to value, it is really hard to beat the Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails # C18118. Does it have the same level of quality as a Thule or Yakima? No, but it does provide functionality and use at about 1/4 of the cost.
So if you're just looking for something basic that you will use on occasion, I do recommend the Curt Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails # C18118.
