Can Heat Exhaust Damage Luggage using Reese Hitch Mounted Carrier on a 2011 Citadel with Dual Pipes
Question:
We have a 2011 Durango Citadel with the dual exhaust tips coming out of the bumper. Will we have to worry ab damage to luggage from the heat Of the exhaust or will the 15 or so inches from tailpipe to the platform give the heat enough room to dissipate?

According to my engineering contact at Reese, you should not have a heat issue using Reese carrier #63153 on your 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel, however, normal care is needed.
The good news is that with your exhaust pipes being 15 inches from the carrier, the chance of exhaust heat or fume damage to your luggage is slim.
A good way to verify any possible issues is to take a short test run. At the end of the short trip you can see if any of your luggage has had any issues with where it sat on the carrier. For standard safety reasons, you are going to want to stay away from loading any type of plastic near the exhaust pipes.
