Troubleshooting Only One Trailer Brake Assembly Working After Harness On Flatbed Trailer Was Damaged
Question:
Hi, I have a 14k Flatbed trailer that had an incident. The cable was scratched at spread way all wires were exposed an touched. The cable was cut and connected by color as should. Now sometimes brakes with one tire when cold only a couple of times. Same tire brakes with emergency switch. It has power on truck connection. Resistance is the same on all magnets. Any suggestions. Thanks.

If you are only having one brake assembly engaging on your 14000lb flat bed trailer when the brakes are applied then there is an issue between the junction box of the 7-way connector and the brake assemblies.
Have a buddy apply the manual override while you test the brake magnet wires on the other braking assemblies with a circuit tester like # PTW2993.
If you find that the other braking assemblies are not getting power you will need to double check that the brake magnet wires are all secured, and the wires running from the brake magnets are connected to the junction box or 7-way connector harness.
More than likely one of these connections came loose or was damaged when the rest of the wiring was damaged.
If you find the brake magnet wires are damaged and in need of replacing you will need to use # 10-1-1 and heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5.
Let me know what you find and we can go into more in-depth troubleshooting if needed.
