Is a Weight Distribution Hitch Needed to Tow a 3500 Pound Trailer?

Question:

I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Hemi 4x4. I just purchased a Little Guy Max Tear Travel Trailer. The Travel Trailer weighs about 3500 lbs loaded. Tongue weight is about 400 lbs. Do you think I need a weight distribution hitch? If so, what do you recommend. I’ve been told for that weight I don’t need one. What are your thoughts? Thanks

With the trailer being as light as it is, I don't think you will need a weight distribution system. Typically with a 2017 Ram 1500 pulling this light of a trailer, it can handle the weight without issue. However, if you do end up getting sway issues you can always add one on after towing a few times.

If you do end up needing one, I suggest the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET. This will have a max capacity of 600 pounds and a minimum capacity of 200 pounds. When choosing the correct system, you want to shoot for as close to the middle of the systems capacity as possible.
