2018 Mazda CX-9 Roof Rack For A Naked Roof

Question:

On my bare roof 2010 Mazda CX-9 I am able to use the front and very rear mounting areas to attach crossbars to the bare roof which gives about 54inch spacing between the crossbars. Having an issue finding something that gets this type of distance on a 2016-2021 CX-9 as the roof slopes downwards at the rear and so attaching a crossbar to the rear mount would interfere with the shark fin antenna. I can only find bare roof racks that give a spacing of around 32. Is there a system that can get me a longer spacing between the crossbars. I can buy the factory roof rails and install them if that helps. Thanks!

If you have what we call a naked roof, meaning no raised rails or flush rails, you cannot choose where to place the rack on the roof of your 2018 Mazda CX-9. Here is a setup for your car on a naked roof. The rack would consist of three separate parts;

Yakima JetStream Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 50" Long - Qty 2, part # Y00425,
BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars - Naked Roofs - Qty 4, part # Y28TR,
BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 2, part # Y06138,
BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 2, part # Y06128.

This rack has specific measurements; the 32" is the M4 measurement and it is fixed. The front crossbar goes in a specific spot on the roof and the rear crossbar is 32" away from the front crossbar. With this spacing between your crossbars you should be able to carry most items on your roof with no interference from your shark fin antenna. The one exception is you will be limited to the rooftop cargo box you can have on your vehicle if you want your rear hatch to open completely.

I have included product descriptions and a video link below.
